Little Free Library.Org® is a nonprofit organization that promotes literacy and a love of reading by providing a vehicle for neighborhood book exchanges around the world. Small, creatively designed book boxes are strategically placed in communities throughout the United States and abroad. The concept is simple. It is a free book exchange. If a person takes a book out of the library (book box), they are then required to put another book in its place. Through Little Free Libraries, millions of books are exchanged each year, profoundly increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds.
The Stockbridge Main Street Little Free Library Project is a new community partnership. The initiative places “book exchange” boxes in locations that will encourage movement throughout the Main Street District and its environs. It is the goal of the Stockbridge Main Street Program to promote literacy and provide a valuable community amenity, while also encouraging citizens and visitors to explore Stockbridge’s downtown area.
