Small Business Owner

What is Small Business Saturday? In 2010, American Express founded Small Business Saturday to help businesses with their most pressing need — getting more customers. The day encourages people to shop at small businesses and dine in locally owned restaurants on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to kick-off the holiday shopping season. The single day has grown into a powerful movement, and more people are taking part than ever before.

What does it mean to Shop Small? Shopping “small” simply means to fulfill shopping, dining, and service needs at a smaller, locally owned business, especially on Small Business Saturday.

Stockbridge Small Business BLITZ

In Stockbridge, we have taken Small Business Saturday™ to a whole different level!

During the entire month of November, the Stockbridge Main Street Program and the City of Stockbridge encourages everyone to shop and dine in local, small businesses, and especially on Small Business Saturday™. This push is done through social media, advertising, and other special activities. Small Businesses that participate in the Stockbridge Small Business Blitz benefit from enhanced recognition, through advertising, signage, and promotional items that help them spread the word about this month-long initiative.

Why should businesses participate in the Stockbridge Small Business Blitz and Small Business Saturday™?

  1. Free Advertising! Every year, the Stockbridge Main Street Program boosts the “Shop Small” effort with social media, special promotional videos, and newspaper ads highlighting participating Stockbridge small businesses for the entire month of November and with special emphasis on Small Business Saturday™.

2. Inclusion on the Stockbridge Small Business Blitz Passport and Shopping App!  The Stockbridge Main Street Program has developed both a physical and a digital shopping passport, featuring all the businesses that participate in the Blitz. The community is encouraged to visit Stockbridge small businesses and take their passports with them during the month of November.  People who have dined or made purchases at four (4) or more participating businesses can enter a special prize drawing for Blitz gift baskets, American Express Gift Cards, and more!

3. Inclusion on the Stockbridge Small Business Blitz event poster and other marketing materials!

All participating Stockbridge small businesses will get a listing on the special Blitz event poster.

How do I get my business involved?

Businesses must register every year to participate in the Stockbridge Small Business Blitz.  They do not have to accept the American Express® card, but MUST be located within the Stockbridge city limits (or have been a past participant) to participate in the Blitz.

If you have any questions about participation, please contact the Main Street Program Office by email at MainStreet@CityofStockbridge-ga.gov, or by telephone at 678-833-3325 for details about this small business initiative.
